Sunrise Hiking Photoshoot at Sarrail Ridge, Kananaskis
Laurence and James traveled from Quebec, eager to explore the Rockies and experience their first sunrise from a mountain summit. Their adventure took them to Sarrail Ridge in Kananaskis, where a smoky haze softened the mountain layers, adding to the dreamy atmosphere. With numerous alpine lakes below and wildflowers dotting the landscape, the stage was set for a breathtaking anniversary photoshoot.

We camped nearby and started hiking at 3 AM, guided only by our headlamps. Walking in the dark felt eerie, and as we reached Rawson Lake, the vastness of the mountains started to reveal itself. Though the altitude made movement more challenging for them, every step was worth it. The final push to the ridge was steep, but just as the alpenglow painted the peaks in warm hues, we arrived. They took a quiet moment to soak in the view before slipping into their outfits for the shoot.

L + J were naturally quiet, expressing their love through gentle touches and stolen glances rather than big gestures. I gave minimal direction, allowing them to be present in the moment. They celebrated not just their fourth anniversary but also their biggest mountain adventure. Their journey was one of effort, reward, and an unforgettable sunrise in the heart of Kananaskis.
